- research: DNA microarrays are composed of many genetic sequences, fixed to a glass or silicon substrate. Samples from two sources are labelled with different fluorescent molecules (red and green). By hybridising both red and green on the same microarray, comparisons of the activity of thousands of different genes may be analysed. Equal activity from red and green dyes results in a yellow colour.
